FAQs

You're not the first to ask.

Can't see your question? Ask us. We read every message and reply by email as soon as we can.

Is this legal advice?

No. Our calculators, guides and letters give general information about UK employment rights and help you put your own case in writing. They aren't legal advice and we can't act for you. For free, impartial advice about your situation, contact Acas on 0300 123 1100 or Citizens Advice.

Who writes the letters?

Your letter isn't generated by AI. It's assembled from fixed paragraphs we prepared and checked against GOV.UK and Acas guidance in advance, chosen and filled in from your answers. Nobody writes it to order. You read the letter, change anything you want in the Word version, and send it yourself.

Who writes my CV?

You do. The CV builder lays out what you type in a clean UK format and checks it as you go. If you ask, it can suggest better wording for one box at a time: those suggestions come from AI and are clearly labelled, and you choose whether to use them.

How much does it cost?

The calculators, guides, fairness checker and Match Check are free. Letters are £5 each, or £9 for the Consultation pack and £12 for the Challenge pack. Building and previewing your CV is free; the download is £9. The Fresh Start bundle (every letter plus the CV download) is £19. One payment, nothing renews.

Do I need an account?

No. When you start a letter or your CV you get a private desk with its own link. Your browser remembers it, and you can email the link to yourself to carry on later or on another device.

How quickly do I get my letter?

Straight away. Pay, and your downloads unlock on your desk at once, as Word and PDF. We also email you the link.

Can I change my letter after paying?

Yes. Change your answers and download again as often as you like for 12 months. The Word version can also be edited directly.

Can I get a refund?

Your downloads unlock as soon as you pay, so the 14-day cancellation right ends then (you agree to this at checkout), so there are no change-of-mind refunds. If something is our fault (a letter that doesn't build, a download that won't open, a mistake in our wording), message us and we'll fix it, or refund you if we can't.

Is the redundancy pay calculator up to date?

Yes. It uses the weekly pay cap of £751 for redundancies on or after 6 April 2026, and £719 for the year before. It updates every April when the government publishes the new figure.

What are the time limits for a claim?

From 1 October 2026 most employment tribunal claims have 6 months less a day where the problem happened on or after that date (3 months less a day before it), and you must contact Acas for early conciliation first. Our time limits calculator works out your date.

Will you help me take my employer to a tribunal?

No. We don't give legal advice, take on claims or contact your employer for you. Acas offers free early conciliation, and Citizens Advice or an employment solicitor can advise on a claim.

What happens to my information?

What you type stays on your desk so you can come back to it. We delete an unpaid desk 90 days after you last use it, and a desk with a purchase 12 months after you last use it, or straight away if you delete it yourself. The Match Check never keeps your CV.
