Dear Jane Smith
Request for time off to look for work
As you know, I've been given notice of redundancy from my role as Warehouse Team Leader, which ends on 4 December 2026. I have at least two years' continuous service, so I'm entitled to reasonable time off during my notice to look for new employment or to arrange training (Employment Rights Act 1996, section 52).
I'd like to take time off on Tuesday 13 October, 2pm to 5pm for a job interview (an interview with Acme Ltd in Wakefield).
I understand this time off is paid at my normal rate, up to a total of 40% of a week's pay across my notice period (section 53). I'm happy to agree reasonable arrangements to cover my work.
Yours sincerely
Sam Taylor
